Do Muslims and Christian Worship the Same God?

In today’s news media and social media rhetoric Christians, Muslims and Jews, those of the “Abrahamic faiths” are often categorized as one group. Is this view too simplistic? Are the differences between the God of the Qur’an and the God of the Bible so great that they outweigh any similarities? Popular speaker and writer, Dr. Andy Bannister, will explore what we mean by the word ‘god’ and will unpack the far deeper question – which is not whether Muslims and Christians both believe in one God, but who that one God is.

Andy Bannister is the Director of the Solas Centre for Public Christianity and an Adjunct Speaker for Ravi
Zacharias International Ministries. This will be the third time the C.S. Lewis Institute has hosted Dr.
Bannister in the Mahoning Valley. He speaks and teaches regularly throughout the UK, Europe, Canada, the
U.S. and the wider world. From universities to churches, business forums to TV and radio, Bannister
regularly addresses audiences of both Christians and those of all faiths and non on issues relating to faith,
culture, politics and society. Dr. Bannister holds a PhD in Islamic studies, a topic that he has taught
extensively. He is also an Adjunct Research Fellow at The Arthur Jeffrey Centre for the Study of Islam at Melbourne School of Theology.
