Union With Christ

The healing of the soul begins in union with Christ. Through his incarnation, life, death, resurrection, and exaltation, Christ put to death the soul-disordering consequences of sin and brought about a new creation through union with and conformity to him. In this one-day seminar, Dr. Johnson will explore the riches of our union with Christ.

Who Should Come? Any Christian interested in deepening their understanding and experience of our union with Christ. This seminar will have valuable application for professional counselors, pastors, lay counselors, and mentors.

Part 1:  Union with Christ in His Story—When we came to faith in Jesus, our story entered into Christ’s story. The Father graciously identifies his children with his Son, and we are declared to be new creatures. Our union with Christ in his story brings unique spiritual blessings for the believer such as adoption, forgiveness, acceptance, empowerment, etc. Dr. Johnson will highlight the therapeutic implications of what we believe about being united with Christ (Rom 6: 3-8).

Part 2:  Dimensions of Our Salvation—Our salvation can be considered from several different aspects:
Expressive/Declarative—the Father declares believers to have the characteristics of Christ (holy, righteous, beloved, child of God, etc.)
Experiential—experiencing God’s declarations about us in our hearts and minds
Christoformative—our character begins to change as we are being formed into the image of Christ
Ecclesial—believers are to practice this salvation together as we treat one another as who we are in Christ
Dr. Johnson will emphasize how we can live a dependent and intentional life in the pursuit of Christlikeness.
