Board of Directors

Kenneth W. Broussard (Vice Chairman – Ministry) is the Senior Vice President and District Manager for KeyBank Real Estate Capital's Washington, DC office, providing equity and debt capital solutions for commercial real estate developers and investors in Maryland, Washington, DC and Virginia. Ken, his wife Caroline and their two daughters are members of Fourth Presbyterian Church in Bethesda, MD. He was a member of the first Year I and Year II Fellows class and has served as a mentor for the Institute's '04, '05 and '06 class of Young Professional Fellows.

William R. Deven (Treasurer) is retired from 20 years as Vice President of Finance and Administration with the Ryland Group and 12 years as Executive Vice President for Search Ministries. Bill and his wife Vera have four children and five grandchildren and attend Bishop Cummins Memorial Church, Columbia, Maryland.

James W. Eckert, P.E., is the Senior Vice President of Engineering Consulting Services, Ltd. a geotechnical and environmental consulting firm headquartered in Chantilly, Virginia. He is a Ruling Elder at Reston Presbyterian Church, EPC. He and his wife Cynthia both serve as mentors in the Institute’s Fellows Program, and have four grown children and six grandchildren.

Elizabeth Fitch, Esq. (Secretary) practiced law with Steptoe & Johnson and Ross, Dixon & Bell in Washington, D.C. from 1980 to 1998. She is President of Byrd Foods, Inc. and has served for several years as a mentor in the Institute’s Fellows Program, in addition to leading various retreats, seminars and workshops in the area of personal growth. She and her husband Wray have three children and attend McLean Bible Church.

Cherie Harder serves as special assistant to the President for Domestic Policy and Director of Projects for the First Lady. She previously served as Policy Advisor to Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist. In addition, she has worked as Senior Counselor to the Chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), Policy Director for Senator Sam Brownback (R-KS), and the Deputy Director of Policy of Empower America. She attends The Falls Church in Falls Church, Virginia.

James R. Hiskey is a founder of the C.S. Lewis Institute along with Dr. James Houston. Jim has been a golf pro since 1958, a former P.G.A. Tour player and instructor, and founder and Senior Editor of the Links Letter. He and his wife Lorraine live in Annapolis, Maryland and have three children and eight grandchildren.

Dennis P. Hollinger, Ph.D., is President and Professor of Christian Ethics at Evangelical School of Theology in Myerstown, Pennsylvania. Over the years he has served as seminary professor, pastor (including on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.), and a college administrator. He and his wife Mary Ann have two daughters and are members of the Grantham Church in Grantham, PA.

Kerry A. Knott (Chairman) serves as Senior Vice President of Government Affairs for Comcast in Washington, D.C. Formerly he was Senor Director of Legislative Affairs for Microsoft and prior to that the Chief of Staff to House Majority Leader Dick Armey for fourteen years. Kerry and his wife Michelle and their three children live in Arlington and attend McLean Bible Church.

Steven J. Law is General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer of the United States Chamber of Commerce. He is responsible for ensuring the Chamber's compliance with all applicable laws, and for overseeing the National Chamber Litigation Center. He has served as Deputy Secretary of Labor, Executive Director of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, and Chief of Staff to U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell. Steven has a passion for worship and for the power of the gospel to transform culture. He and his wife Elizabeth attend The Falls Church along with their two children, Charlotte and John James.

Arthur W. Lindsley, Ph.D is Senior Fellow at the C.S. Lewis Institute. He came to the Institute in 1987 as Director and Scholar in Residence and previously served as Director of Educational Ministries of the Ligonier Valley Study Center and Staff Specialist with Coalition for Christian Outreach, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Art, his wife Connie, and their two boys Trey and Jonathan make their home in Arlington, Virginia and are members of Fourth Presbyterian Church in Bethesda, Maryland.

Carl D. Meyer (Vice Chairman – Finance) is Managing Director of Philanthropic Development for Lilac Capital and former Managing Director for Merrill Lynch. Carl and his wife Kay have three children and live in Falls Church, Virginia. They attend McLean Presbyterian Church.

Chris T. Morris is the Vice President of Strategy, Planning and Reporting for Freddie Mac, a mortgage investment company headquartered in McLean, Virginia. Formerly he was an investment banker, private equity investor and business development professional. Chris and his wife Sheila and their two children live in Vienna, Virginia and attend McLean Bible Church.

Bruce M. Scott is CEO and Chairman of the Board for Scott-Long Construction Company, Chantilly, Virginia, a company he began in 1961. Bruce and his wife Mary make their home in Oakton, Virginia and have four grown children and twelve grandchildren. They attend Truro Church, Fairfax, Virginia.

Thomas A. Tarrants, III, D.Min., serves as an ex officio member of the Board.
