Prompts to Help You Pray

Learn more in our Dawn Treader Magazine

You may have heard this prayer over Christmastime, since it is used as the third verse to “Away in a Manger.” Some people say it was written by a Methodist Sunday School teacher in the nineteenth century; other people suggest that Martin Luther wrote all the verses when he originally composed the tune. Either way, they are a lovely appeal to Jesus’ love for us.

PRAYER

I love you, Lord Jesus,
I ask You to stay
Close by me forever,
And love me, I pray.

Bless all the dear children
In Your tender care,
And take us to Heaven
To live with You there.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.
