C.S. Lewis and the Use of Metaphor Part One

As far as Lewis is concerned, metaphor plays a large role that shapes many of the illustrations and allusions in his works. In this lecture, Robert Rutledge shares about how metaphor has been used in his work.

Robert Rutledge

Robert Rutledge, Professor, (1936-2021) attended George Washington University and the University of Virginia. He served in the Army in the 44th Tank Battalion in the Pacific theater, earning two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts. He earned a master's degree in literature at GWU and a doctorate degree from GWU in English literature and criticism in 1964. Mr. Rutledge became an associate professor of English literature at GWU, serving for a time as the director of the off-campus division. He also was the associate dean of GWU's Columbia College of Arts and Sciences.
