Looking for an opportunity to refresh body, mind and spirit? Sign up now for the Institute's annual summer retreat, held from Sunday, July 20th through Saturday, July 26th. Located at Glenside Farm in the beautiful Endless Mountains of northern Pennsylvania, this retreat offers an intimate and peaceful setting for a week of quiet study, stimulating conversation, and reinvigorating rest and relaxation. This year's retreat topic is "The Great Ideas of C.S. Lewis." Using his book The Weight of Glory as a springboard, the group will spend the week studying nine major themes of the Christian faith that were explored by Lewis again and again in his stories and essays.
The study will be led by Dr. Christopher Mitchell, Director of the Marion E. Wade Center at Wheaton College. The breadth and depth of Dr. Mitchell's scholarship on Lewis' writings and the limited number of participants will foster a detailed exchange of ideas and a challenging exploration of how those ideas can impact and develop one's own faith. The farm setting, where participants will work together to prepare meals and have ample opportunity to walk and study outdoors, will encourage the development of friendships with fellow believers that we hope will extend well beyond the week.
The cost of the retreat is $300 and includes lodging and meals. We will encourage and help facilitate carpooling, which will extend the time for fellowship among the attendees. There are only 24 slots available for this event, so sign up as soon as possible.
