C.S. Lewis Institute Belfast welcomes you to an exciting evening of fireside discussions, food, and fellowship. In partnership with More Christ, a Christian apologetics You Tube channel hosted by Mark Connolly, a new Fellow at the C.S. Lewis Institute Belfast.

Dr Louis Markos joins us from Houston Christian University, U.S.A for what promises to be a memorable evening. Dr Markos will be joined by his son Alex Markos, an author and apologist and local C.S. Lewis expert, author and former C.S. Lewis Institute Mentor & Board Member Mr Sandy Smith to discuss an array of topics which highlight Lewis's continued relevance, including Apologetics, Artificial Intelligence, Education, and Culture.

Louis A. Markos

Louis A. Markos, is a Professor of English and Scholar in Residence at Houston Baptist University. He holds a BA in English and History from Colgate University and an MA and PhD in English from the University of Michigan. Markos is the author of many books including, C. S. Lewis: An Apologist for Education, From Achilles to Christ: Why Christians Should Read the Pagan Classics, and Lewis Agonistes: How C. S. Lewis can Train us to Wrestle with the Modern and Postmodern World, and his latest work C.S. Lewis For Beginners. He is the author of two lecture series with the Teaching Company/Great Courses: The Life and Writings of C. S. Lewis and Plato to Postmodernism.  

Sandy Smith

Sandy Smith, is the author of C.S. Lewis and the Island of His Birth and a Director of Heritage Experience. His book is available through www.authenticulster.com. Three short film pieces on aspects of the life of C.S. Lewis can also be viewed on the website.  In addition he has produced several YouTube videos of Ireland.

 

Alex Markos

Alex Markos is a member of the Humanities faculty at the Geneva School of Boerne, TX; he has taught both grammar school Latin and high school history and philosophy. He holds a B.A. in History and Classics from Hope College and an M.A. in Apologetics from Houston Baptist University (now Houston Christian University). Outside of the classroom, he has spoken for the nationwide Society for Classical Learning summer conference on topics including Greek mythology and The Chronicles of Narnia and is a contributing writer for Classical Academic Press. He has also published several essays and poems in such apologetics journals as Saint Austin Review and An Unexpected Journal.
