Following the Call to Biblical Peacemaking in the Midst of Heightened Political Polarization

With political polarization on the rise, many of us struggle to know how to engage in conversations with people with whom we disagree in a way that balances both our moral convictions as Christians and our call to be “peacemakers” (Matthew 5:9)

This event features interactive workshops that explore the dynamics that fuel toxic political polarization, what it means to be a peacemaker, and practical ways laypeople and leaders can live into that call within their family, church and community.

Brandon Cleaver

Reverend Brandon Cleaver is the Matthew 5:9 Director at the One America Movement. He views the pursuit of unity as an integral part of his life. Brandon served as co-chapter director for the Wayne State Ratio Christi chapter. He served on the Stephen Ministry leadership team at Kensington Community Church and occasionally serves alongside Inner City Detroit Cru and Serve the City-Detroit. Brandon graduated from Michigan State University with a major in Journalism and a minor in Sociology. He completed a Master’s in Christian Apologetics from Biola University and a Master’s of Divinity in Interdisciplinary Studies through Moody Theological Seminary.

Kathleen Durham

Kathleen Durham serves as the Director of Development and Administration for the C.S. Lewis Institute – Dallas. She is passionate about people, literature, languages and above all about helping people have a deeper understanding and experience of God’s goodness and love through Scripture. She is also deeply committed to social justice as essential to the Gospel and the fullness of the faith. She is a graduate of Belmont University (Spanish, minor in Italian), Georgetown University (Masters and A.B.D. in Spanish and Portuguese Literature and Cultural Studies), and the Oxford Center for Christian Apologetics, Oxford University.
