Overcoming Doubts and Growing in Faith

The CSLI Fellows Programme was not something that I had on my radar in 2019. I'd heard about it at one of our church services and my wife Elaine had brought home some literature explaining the course in some detail. The reading and lecturer lists were full of great names and not being a very academic achiever myself I just thought that I would be really out of my depth; however, after some serious prayer and an interview with Stuart I was signed up and there was no turning back. Throughout the course, I found that I had not only so much to learn but also so much to contribute. I was assigned a mentor who was both intuitive and also sensitive to where I was on my journey. I was also placed in a triplet group with whom I could share thoughts on my progress on each month’s theme, pray for one another, and offer support. Looking back now after completing the course I can see so many areas of my faith that were weak because of poor habits, areas such as deliberate prayer time, Bible study time, memory vers,e and meditation time to mention a few. I have also become a serious reader, something which was previously an inconvenient necessity to receiving God’s Word. One of the most important things I learned, and something which probably should have been obvious to me, is that in being a follower of Christ we are disciples, we have great news, great hope, and a duty to share this with others, Throughout the year we have been given great tools to enable us to do this with confidence, sensitivity, and love. In summary, the CSLI Fellows Programme is something that I would be happy to recommend to anyone at any stage of their journey with Christ. It is such a privilege to meet so many great people and at the end of the programme to have had the privilege to call them friends.
