Reflecting on Growth and Transformation

So much could be said about the CSLI Fellows Program, but I’ll limit myself to three broad areas. Firstly, I'm grateful for its well-thought-out structure – tried and tested by others over many years – which has allowed me to reflect on and process what God has been teaching me, through a number of different Christian streams, about ongoing transformation. Secondly, the discipline of the monthly themes, while sometimes challenging, has been very helpful in corralling my reading and focusing my (prone-to-wander!) attention. And thirdly, the way the Program is put together has skillfully done the work of maintaining a balance between head and heart, and also between contemplation and action, which I have greatly appreciated. I was struck at the outset by this C.S. Lewis quotation, posted on Path wright in relation to the Spiritual Autobiography: "Mere change is not growth . Growth is the synthesis of change and continuity, and where there is no continuity there is no growth.” (C.S. Lewis Selected Literary Essays). This has been a year well spent, bringing together what God has done in the past (in history and in my own life) and what he is doing now. I am praying God will enable me to take forward well the growth of 2019/20. Much gratitude.
