Transformative Discipleship and Spiritual Growth

Perhaps like so many I was drawn to the CSLI Programme by the very mention of the man's name! (alongside the desire to study Classic Christian Literature with other believers, and my spiritual hunger for "MORE" and for a broader perspective on my faith.) It was obvious, from the outset, that the Fellows Programme was heralded not as an academic course, but as a Discipleship one, grounded in prayer and accessible to all believers desiring a closer walk with God. The "academic" bit I regarded as privileged access to the rich materials rolled out monthly, in manageable segments for my enjoyment and growth; (not to overwhelm!). The layered learning and meditative style I loved from our large study groups to our triads and the 1-1 mentoring each representing the different discipleship models used by Jesus. The emphasis on "heart-learning" over mere "head knowledge" was refreshing. Highlights included: George Mueller on Generosity and Faith, Gregory Koukl’s evangelistic tool of "putting a stone in someone's shoe", Dorothy Sayers’s stressing the Importance of not dividing the secular and the sacred; but to glorify God in ALL of life; ALL being 'sacred'. I am freshly challenged in every sphere of my life- to be 'salt and light' in our world; to GO, to DO and to BE as God directs.
