Living  In Babylon by Dr Jim Phillips

 The C.S. Lewis Institute Annapolis is excited to announce an evening seminar on Friday, November 7th, at 6 p.m., at the Doubletree Hotel in Annapolis, MD. Dr. Jim Phillips will draw insights from his book Living in Babylon to suggest the Bible is a tale of two cities, the City of Man, represented by Babylon, and the City of God, represented by Jerusalem.  These two kingdoms have been at war since the Garden, and the battle continues today.  Jim believes today’s godless culture is identical to the culture of ancient Babylon, which included a pantheon of gods.  If so, where did the gods go?  Why is the worldview of our culture so similar to Daniel and Esther’s Babylon?  How can we live a life of excellence in “Babylon,” taking lessons from their examples?

Come join us for this unique and relevant discussion. You may discover your calling “for such a time as this” (Esther 4:14).  A buffet dinner will be served at 6:15. A cash bar will be open at 6 p.m.  Registration is $40 for adults and free for all students, thanks to the generosity of some of our patrons.  Watch for your opportunity to register, but for now, save the date!

Jim Phillips

CSLI City Director, Annapolis & Senior Fellow for Cross-Cultural Discipleship Jim Phillips founded the C.S. Lewis Institute in Annapolis, Maryland in 2009 and is currently a Senior Fellow helping facilitate the discipleship of Believers in Christ from non-Western cultural backgrounds. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. After graduation he served in the U.S. Marine Corps as an AV-8A Harrier pilot and in the corporate world as an information technology executive. He received an MLA from St. John’s College, Annapolis, Maryland, a Post Graduate Diploma in Theology and Religion, Oxford University, UK, and a PhD in Islamic Studies from the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies/Middlesex University, Oxford, UK.
