CSLI Kenya Study Tour 

June 11-22, 2027 

 *Itinerary is subject to change depending on Kenyan holidays, opening and closing of sites, weather, and unknown circumstances. This itinerary is planned to make the best use of our time and to provide an enjoyable and enriching tour experience. All breakfast and a lunch or dinner is included daily! 

PLANNED ITINERARY

Day 1 – Friday, 11th June, 2027 

Check in to The Fairview Hotel in Nairobi
Arrival and rest

Day 2 – Saturday, 12th June, 2027  

Enjoy a delicious breakfast. Welcome and Orientation Session with a short driving tour of the city. 

Visit the Karen Blixen Museum and experience Kenya through the eyes of an early 20th Century Danish author. 

Lunch at Hemmingway’s in Karen. Enjoy lunch on the wraparound terrace of a plantation style home with stunning views of the Ngong Hills.  

Visit to the Bomas of Kenya, a major cultural heritage and historical center featuring traditional villages, cultural dances, and more. 

Dinner on your own at the hotel and rest. 

Day 3 – Sunday, 13th June, 2027 

After a delightful breakfast, split into groups and attend several local churches. Experience prayer and worship alongside Kenyan believers.  Learn about the growth of the church in Eastern Africa and local church ministries and share tea or an early lunch together. 

Head to the airport for a short, one-hour flight to Malindi  

Settle in at an ocean-front resort hotel in the coastal town of Watamu. Enjoy an evening swim or sundowner and dinner on your own at the hotel.  

Day 4 – Monday, 14th June, 2027  

Enjoy the morning at the resort beach and pool with the option for spa visits or excursions to view sea turtles, dolphins and whales, or a dhow ride through a mangrove forest. 

Lunch on your own at the park or back at the hotel.  

Visit the 12th Century Gede Ruins featuring a Swahili town, palace, mosques, and coral stone houses set in a forest. Learn about the history of Islam and Arab trade along the Eastern coast of Africa.  

Dinner on the rooftop of Medina Palms, featuring Mediterranean, Moroccan, and Swahili dishes with locally sourced seafood and freshly grown organic produce.  

Day 5 – Tuesday, 15th June, 2027 

Visit to the Vasco de Gama Pillar which marks the pioneering maritime expedition of the Portuguese explorer in 1498. Visit to the Portuguese Chapel, the first Christian place of worship established in East Africa.  

Visit to Malindi Cultural Complex, an 1890’s building established for the Imperial British East Africa Company.  View cultural heritage exhibits of the Swahili, Mijikenda, and Taita peoples.  

Visit to a rural Christian school and discipleship ministry. Opportunities to volunteer, assist, or observe children’s, youth, or sports ministries or interact with teachers. 

Overnight in a luxury tented camp ("glamping") along the Galana River. Wildlife viewing opportunities where elephants, hippos, giraffes, and more often come to drink. Enjoy a sundowner and dinner along the riverbank. 

Day 6 – Wednesday, 16th June, 2027 

Full day Safari in Tsavo East National Park, with an opportunity to see a wide variety of wildlife. Visit sites such as the Yatta Plateau, Lugard Falls, and Mudanda Rock. Enjoy lunch at the Aruba Dam. 

Day 7 – Thursday, 17th June, 2027  

Drive back to Malindi (2-hour drive) and take a short flight to Nairobi. Enjoy a leisurely afternoon at the hotel. Experience a special dinner with exotic roast meats such as crocodile, ostrich, ox, and more. 

Day 8 – Friday, 18th June, 2027 

Take a tour of a private tea farm and learn about tea culture in Eastern Africa. Sit in and engage in discussions on apologetics issues facing the church in urban and rural Africa and connect with the inaugural class of CSLI Nairobi Fellows. Enjoy an evening worship and prayer experience. 

Day 9 – Saturday, 19th June, 2027 

Attend a CSLI Nairobi discipleship conference with local pastors, leaders, and students. Witness the commissioning of the first class of CSLI Nairobi Fellows and welcome those who are just starting the program. 

Day 10 – Sunday - 20th June, 2027  

Drive into the Great Rift Valley, with panoramic escarpment views. Stop at local craft shops before winding down into expansive acacia dotted savannahs, and drive past dormant volcanoes. 

Split into smaller groups and visit several rural churches for worship. 

Participate in an evening game drive in a 188 square kilometer premier wildlife sanctuary featuring savannah, forests, and an alkaline soda lake that attracts thousands of flamingos and pelicans. Stay overnight in a luxury hotel in Nakuru.  

Day 11 – Monday, 21st June, 2027 

Enjoy a morning game drive, viewing rhinos, antelope, lions, giraffe, and more in this game park renowned for its wildlife. After a restful lunch, continue to Naivasha and enjoy an idyllic walk among wildlife in a peaceful retreat renowned for birdwatching, hiking, and more. This will be a restful day for reflection, prayer, debriefing, and nature activities.  

Day 12 – Tuesday, 22nd June, 2027 

Make the one and half hour drive back to Nairobi. Enjoy leisurely shopping with lunch on your own. Visit a giraffe center where you can feed giraffes from the palm of your hand. Enjoy a final team dinner and debriefing before flying out.
