CSLI Kenya Study Tour 

June 11-22, 2027 

Overview:   

Participants on this trip will engage with vibrant and growing Christian communities and experience the beauty and wonder of African landscapes and wildlife. We’ll begin the trip by learning about Kenyan history and culture, traditional African religion and philosophy, and the influence of Islam and Arab trade along the coast of Kenya. Participants will tour a 12th Century Swahili Town, visit landing sites of early explorers, and set foot in the first church established in Eastern Africa. We’ll learn more about the modern mission movement, the East African Revival, and the spread of Christianity on the continent. We’ll engage closely with one of the newest branches of the C.S. Lewis Institute, CSLI Nairobi, connect and worship with local believers, and learn about modern discipleship and apologetics issues in the region. The trip will feature daily devotionals to help participants grasp a bigger perspective of God’s work in the world as well as activities designed to cultivate worship alongside brothers and sisters in the global church.   

 Experiences:  

As part of this trip you will attend a one-day C.S. Lewis Institute conference in Nairobi, enjoy a beautiful coastal resort, view wildlife at a riverside luxury tented camp, experience a safari in a region famous for its elephants, view rhinos, antelopes, buffaloes, lions and more in their natural habitat, feed giraffes from the palm of your hand in an educational center, take a private tour of a tea farm, walk through a private game reserve, and see pink flamingos on an alkaline soda like. 

Pricing:

  • Double Occupancy: $4,450  (per person | 2 people per room) for Land Tour
  • Single Occupancy:  $5,450 (1 person per room) for Land Tour

Note: Pricing includes accommodation, in-country travel, two meals per day, safari expenses, and all planned activities. Flights to Kenya are NOT included. Participants will need to arrange their own flights to and from Nairobi, Kenya. Also not included are personal items, special beverages, medical and travel insurance; fees due to delays, cancellations, emergencies, or any unforeseen expense outside of this program.

Aseka Taabu

CSLI City Director, Nairobi

Aseka Taabu is the City Director for CSLI Nairobi and an itinerant minister and speaker involved in apologetics and discipleship events in high schools, universities and churches across Kenya. His passion for the lost has seen him start discipleship groups aimed at equipping believers for works of service both in the church and corporate sphere.

Dave Chaves

Technology and Product Development Manager, CSLI

Dave Chaves, Technology and Product Development Manager, has worked in nonprofit, Christian communications for over 10 years, including most recently with Five Talents USA. He holds a master’s degree from Georgetown University and an MDiv from Africa International University. He’s been involved in cross-cultural missions in East Africa for over 10 years and is an Associate Missionary with the Society of Anglican Missionaries and Senders.  Dave met his lovely wife Lucy in Kenya and they have four children. He is excited to be part of the CSLI team and to support communications and technology to further the ministry of discipleship.

Joel Woodruff

President, C.S. Lewis Institute

Joel Woodruff, President, C.S. Lewis Institute, has worked in higher education, “tent-making,” nonprofit administration, and pastoral ministries in Alaska, Israel, Hungary, France, and Northern Virginia. He served as Dean of Students, Chaplain, and Professor of Bible & Theology at European Bible Institute, where he helped train Europeans both for professional ministry and to be Christian leaders in the marketplace. Prior to joining the Institute, he was on the leadership team of Oakwood Services International, a nonprofit educational and humanitarian organization. He is a graduate of Wheaton College, earned his M.Div. from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and has a doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. As a Parish-Pulpit Fellow, he studied Biblical Backgrounds & Archaeology in Israel for a year.
