John Nelson, Ph.D., is a teacher, scholar and student of the gospels. He earned a Master’s in Theology (New Testament) at Magdalen College, Oxford, and a PhD in Christian Origins at the University of Edinburgh. His revised doctoral dissertation was published as Jesus’ Physical Appearance: Biography, Christology, Philosophy (Bloomsbury 2025). He hosts Unbelievable?, a show which brings people of different worldviews into discussion around the Bible, theology and philosophy. He is the Researcher and Producer of Biblical Time Machine, a podcast with Professors Helen Bond and Lloyd Lewellyn-Jones which hosts leading academics in a range of fields related to the bible. When he is not writing, he enjoys reading C.S. Lewis with a strong coffee close at hand.
