Randy Newman

Randy Newman (1956-2024) was the Senior Fellow for Apologetics and Evangelism at the C.S. Lewis Institute. He taught at several evangelical seminaries. After serving for over 30 years with Campus Crusade for Christ, he established Connection Points, a ministry to help Christians engage people’s hearts the way Jesus did. He has written seven books, Questioning Evangelism, Corner Conversations, Bringing the Gospel Home, Engaging with Jewish People, Unlikely Converts: Improbable Stories of Faith and What They Teach Us About Evangelism, Mere Evangelism. and his most recent, Questioning Faith: Indirect Journeys of Belief through Terrains of Doubt. Randy has also written numerous articles about evangelism and other ways our lives intertwine with God’s creation. He earned his MDiv and PhD in Intercultural Studies from Trinity International University. Randy went home to be with the Lord in May 2024.

Benjamin C.F. Shaw received his Ph.D. in Theology and M.A. in Religious Studies from Liberty University in Virginia. He also serves as adjunct professor of theology at Liberty University and as an affiliate faculty member of Colorado Christian University and is president of Core Apologetics, a ministry dedicated to helping churches, organizations, and individuals equip disciples. He has published various book chapters, journal articles, and reviews including an article titled The Resurrection of Jesus Christ as Christianity’s Centerpiece with Dr. Gary Habermas for the C.S. Lewis Institute’s Knowing & Doing quarterly publication. Benjamin’s most recent book is Trustworthy: Thirteen Arguments for the Reliability of the New Testament (IVP).

Professor
Gary Habermas is a Distinguished Research Professor of Apologetics and Philosophy at Liberty University. He earned his PhD from Michigan State University and has dedicated his professional life to the examination of the relevant historical, philosophical, and theological issues surrounding the death and resurrection of Jesus. Dr. Habermas has contributed more than 60 chapters or articles to additional books, and over 100 articles and reviews in journals and other publications. His most recent books are On the Resurrection, Volume 1: Evidences and On the Resurrection, Volume 2: Refutations. He has served as a visiting or adjunct professor at about 15 different graduate schools and seminaries in the United States and abroad.

Thomas A. Tarrants

Thomas A. Tarrants is President Emeritus of the C.S. Lewis Institute. After serving twelve years as president and nine years as vice President, he retired from his position as Vice President for Ministry and Director, Washington Area Fellows Program, with CSLI in June 2019. He holds a Master's of Divinity Degree, as well as a Doctor of Ministry Degree in Christian Spirituality. Tom is an ordained minister in the Evangelical Church Alliance and a member of the Evangelical Theological Society. He spends his time writing, mentoring, consulting and traveling. His life story is told in Consumed by Hate, Redeemed by Love, published by Thomas Nelson Publishers.

J. Edward Glancy, Attorney, was a member of the C.S. Lewis Institute Fellows Class of 2002-2003 and completed the Year Two program the following year. He graduated from Franklin and Marshall College in 1977 and received a J.D. from Duke University School of Law in 1980. Ed served as an attorney with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for 32 years, most of that time as Senior Attorney. He currently serves the C.S. Lewis Institute part-time as a volunteer.

Joel Woodruff, President, C.S. Lewis Institute, has worked in higher education, “tent-making,” nonprofit administration, and pastoral ministries in Alaska, Israel, Hungary, France, and Northern Virginia. He served as Dean of Students, Chaplain, and Professor of Bible & Theology at European Bible Institute, where he helped train Europeans both for professional ministry and to be Christian leaders in the marketplace. Prior to joining the Institute, he was on the leadership team of Oakwood Services International, a nonprofit educational and humanitarian organization. He is a graduate of Wheaton College, earned his M.Div. from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and has a doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. As a Parish-Pulpit Fellow, he studied Biblical Backgrounds & Archaeology in Israel for a year.

Dr. John C. Lennox is Professor of Mathematics (emeritus) at Oxford University and an internationally renowned speaker on the interface of science, philosophy, and religion. He regularly teaches at many academic institutions, is Senior Fellow with the Trinity Forum and has written a series of books exploring the relationship between science and Christianity. He holds a number of advanced degrees, including a PhD from Cambridge University. His acclaimed books include Cosmic Chemistry: Do God and Science Mix?; 2084: Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Humanity; and A Good Return: Biblical Principles for Work, Wealth, and Wisdom. John and his wife have three grown children and nine grandchildren.

Paul M. Gould, is an Associate Professor of Philosophy of Religion and the Director of the M.A. in Philosophy of Religion at Palm Beach Atlantic University. Gould has authored several books including The Story of the Cosmos: How the Heavens Declare the Glory of God and The Outrageous Idea of the Missional Professor as well as been an editor or co-editor of several books, including Beyond the Control of God? Six Views on the Problem of God and Abstract Objects and Loving God with Your Mind: Essays in Honor of J. P. Moreland. He received his Masters in Philosophy of Religion and Ethics from Talbot School of Theology and a PhD in Philosophy from Purdue University.

Michael William Schick, CSLI Fellow, was a member of the first C.S. Lewis Fellows class in 1999. An honors graduate of the University of South Carolina, he is a strategic communications consultant in Washington, DC. He has been a spokesman for the President Pro Tempore of the United States Senate, a television producer/director and a senior executive at a global public relations firm. Michael enjoys serving as a guest teacher at the men’s Community Bible Study at McLean Bible Church. He is married to Diana Schick, author of 25 Creative Living Bible Study books (which Michael edits).
