George Müller
George Müller, Evangelist, 1805–1898 was a Christian evangelist and the director of the Ashley Down orphanage in Bristol, England. In the 1800’s orphans had to beg for or steal food in order to survive. Müller began to pray about starting an orphan house. He dedicated his days to prayer for the needs of the orphans. During Müller’s lifetime he gave away $700,000. He found seven acres at Ashley Down and over 21 years homes were built in which over 2,000 children would be cared for. In addition to caring for orphans George Müller also paid for the printing of Bibles and tracts. Müller gave away more than 250,000 Bibles and paid tuition for hundreds of children to go to school.
