Gerard Long

Gerard Long is a Christian minister, evangelist, author, motivational speaker, and former HSBC banking executive. In 2006, Gerard decided to leave behind his highly paid banking career and join Alpha USA, whose mission is to serve local churches in presenting the Gospel through the Alpha course. He was executive director of Alpha course USA before retiring in 2014 to work for Awakening to God ministries.

Thomas A. Tarrants

Thomas A. Tarrants is President Emeritus of the C.S. Lewis Institute. After serving twelve years as president and nine years as vice President, he retired from his position as Vice President for Ministry and Director, Washington Area Fellows Program, with CSLI in June 2019. He holds a Master's of Divinity Degree, as well as a Doctor of Ministry Degree in Christian Spirituality. Tom is an ordained minister in the Evangelical Church Alliance and a member of the Evangelical Theological Society. He spends his time writing, mentoring, consulting and traveling. His life story is told in Consumed by Hate, Redeemed by Love, published by Thomas Nelson Publishers.

CSLI Co-FounderJames M. Houston (1922 – 2026) is a co-founder of the C.S. Lewis Institute. Jim served as a Senior Fellow of the Institute, lecturing at CSLI events over the past five decades. He received his Bachelor of Science and M.A. degrees from the University of Edinburgh and a D. Phil. from Oxford University. He was a University Lecturer at Oxford from 1947 – 1971 where he taught cultural and historical geography. While teaching at Oxford, he met C.S. Lewis and participated in a regular Bible study with him for six years. He is known as one of the “founding fathers” of Regent College in Vancouver, British Columbia where he has served as the first Principal, Chancellor and Professor of Spiritual Theology.

Founded in 1976 by Dr. James Houston and James R. Hiskey, the Institute provides leading teachers who address important issues of the day from the perspective of Biblical orthodoxy, while also providing discipleship for individuals in small groups.

Paul Miller, Author, (MDiv, Biblical Seminary) is Executive Director of seeJesus, a global discipleship mission which he founded in 1999 to help Christians and non-Christians alike “see Jesus.” He has books and interactive Bible studies focusing on seeJesus’ core themes: Jesus, love, and prayer. Ashley Storm, Teacher, currently works as a high school math teacher and volleyball coach in Northern Virginia. She grew up just outside the D.C. Metro area near Warrenton, Virginia and attended Saint Leo University in Florida on a basketball scholarship. She is passionate about serving teens through teaching, coaching and supporting Young Life in her area. In addition, she completed Year One of the Fellows Program in 2011.

Stuart McAlpine
Pastor, Teaching Fellow, CSLI
Stuart McAlpine is a teaching fellow at the C.S. Lewis Institute and the founding pastor of Christ our Shepherd Church located on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. He speaks at churches and conferences around the world and lectures for the C.S. Lewis Institute Fellows Program. His most recent book is: Here’s Hoping: Recovering Hope for Heaven and Earth. Stuart has a great knowledge of and love for the works of C.S. Lewis. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and a Master’s degree in Theology from Cambridge University in Great Britain.
