Susan Maycinik Nikaido, Author, served as editor and senior editor of the Discipleship Journal for over 15 years. She has published articles in magazines such as Today’s Christian Woman, Decision, Leadership, Campus Life, New Man, and Christian History. She has worked as an editor at Purdue University, editing books and promotional materials, and at Indiana University, editing study guides for correspondence courses. She is the author of the Bible study guides Growing Deeper with God and Building Better Relationships. Susan holds a B.A. in journalism from Indiana University and an M.A. in communications from Wheaton College Graduate School. She has taught writing and editing seminars in the U.S. and internationally and has also written a manual for Magazine Training International.

Brent Curtis (1947-1998), Counselor, was a counselor in private practice and the author of the book Guilt (Institute of Biblical Counseling Discussion Guides Series) published in 1992 by Navpress. He also co-authored a book with John Eldredge, The Sacred Romance: Drawing Closer to the Heart of God. Brent loved people. He was a friend and mentor to many.

Professor and Theologian
Tremper Longman III, Professor and Theologian, is the Distinguished Scholar of Biblical Studies at Westmont College, visiting professor of Old Testament at Seattle School of Theology and Psychology and adjunct of Old Testament at Fuller Theological Seminary. He earned a Master of Divinity from Westminster Theological Seminary and completed a doctorate in ancient Near Eastern studies at Yale University. He has authored over thirty books including interdisciplinary works and textbooks. Titles include Science, Creation and the Bible: Reconciling Rival Theories of Origins; How to Read Genesis; Intimate Allies; How to Read the Psalms; How to Read Proverbs and Literary Approaches to Biblical Interpretation. He is one of the main translators of the New Living Translation and has consulted on other translations.

For 14 years he led Navigator campus and marketplace ministries, in which he worked with students, businesspeople, and missionaries, both stateside and overseas. John Charles Ryle (1816 - 1900) was an evangelical Anglican clergyman and first Bishop of Liverpool. He was renowned for his powerful preaching and extensive tracts. He was educated at Eton and then Christ Church, Oxford. He offered himself for ministry in the Church of England and was duly accepted and ordained in December 1841.He wrote several well-known books, among them are Expository Thoughts on the Gospels (7 vols, 1856–69), Holiness and Practical Religion.  Ryle was described as having a commanding presence and vigorous in advocating his principles albeit with a warm disposition. He served as Bishop until his eighty-fourth year, where a general decline in health forced him to retire.

Jonathan Edwards, (1703 – 1758) was a theologian and revivalist preacher. He is said to have played a critical role in the shaping of the First Great Awakening and shepherded the first revivals in 1733-35 at his church in Massachusetts. He is perhaps remembered by most for his classic sermon “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God.” Edwards has authored many books including The End for Which God Created the World, The Life of David Brainerd and Religious Affections.

James Bryan Smith, Professor, is the founder and Executive Director of the Apprentice Institute for Christian Spiritual Formation at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. He also serves there as a theology professor and is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church. He earned a Master of Divinity from Yale University Divinity School and a Doctorate of Ministry from Fuller Seminary. He has authored ten books, most notably The Apprentice Series, Devotional Classics (with Richard J. Foster), Embracing the Love of God, Room of Marvels, The Good and Beautiful Series, Hidden in Christ and, The Magnificent Journey, the second book in a new trilogy. Dr. Smith frequently speaks about a Christian’s spiritual formation.

He is a graduate of Northeast Louisiana University (B.A., Sociology and English, and M.A., English) and Dallas Theological Seminary (Th.M., Pastoral Theology). Prior to joining Probe, Lou taught English literature and composition at the college level and served with Campus Crusade for Christ in the Military Ministry as well as the Singles Ministry. He is the author of the Probe booklet, and Literature Under the Microscope: A Christian Look at Reading.

Gary Collins, is a licensed clinical psychologist with a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Purdue University. Collins grew up in Canada and graduated from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario and the University of Toronto before taking a year of study at the University of London. Gary currently holds a position as Distinguished Professor of Leadership and Counseling at Richmont Graduate University in Atlanta and Chattanooga. In addition, he served as Distinguished Visiting Professor in the School of Psychology and Counseling at Regent University in Virginia. He is author of numerous articles and almost 60 published books, including Christian Counseling: A Comprehensive Guide, How to be a People Helper and The Biblical Basis of Christian Counseling.
