* One of the attractions of Israel is its blend of cultures, religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) and histories. This diverse landscape makes the scheduling of itineraries more complex. Schedules, housing and itinerary are subject to change without notice due to the devaluation of the dollar and political uncertainties. This itinerary is based on the best possible use of time management, keeping in mind the complexities of Jerusalem traffic, the current political climate, and opening hours as regards to Jewish, Christian and Muslim holidays.
DAY 1 Sat. Sep 18 Depart USA.
Day 2 Sun. Sep 19 Jerusalem. Arrive Tel Aviv (Ben Gurion Airport). Take a taxi from the TLV airport to the Jerusalem Olive Tree Hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 3 Mon. Sep 20 Theme: The patriarchs and exodus. Sites visited will include Hebron (Machpelah), Beersheva, and Arad. Dinner and overnight – Jerusalem Olive Tree Hotel.
Day 4 Tue. Sep 21 Theme: Introduction to Jerusalem. Ancient Jerusalem of Abraham through Nehemiah including the Temple Mount, City of David, Western Wall, Kidron and Hinnom Valley, and Mt Zion, late afternoon (option) - the Israel Museum, Dead Sea Scrolls and model of Jerusalem (AD 66). Dinner and overnight – Jerusalem Olive Tree Hotel.
Day 5 Wed. Sep 22 Theme: Passion Week – The events of Passion Week including Jesus in Bethphage (Mt of Olives- Palm Sunday), Garden of Gethsemane, Bethesda Pools, Holy Sepulcher, and Garden Tomb. Dinner and overnight – Jerusalem Olive Tree Hotel.
Day 6 Thu. Sep 23 Theme: Joshua and the conquest. Our travels will take us to Shilo, Jacob’s Well, Samaria and Mt. Gerizim as we study Joshua’s entrance into the Promised Land. Dinner and overnight – Jerusalem Olive Tree Hotel.
Day 7 Fri. Sep 24 Theme: The place of refuge. The wilderness of Judah includes visits to Masada, Ein Gedi, and Qumran. Optional “swim” in the Dead Sea. Dinner and overnight – Jerusalem Olive Tree Hotel.
Day 8 Sat. Sep 25 Theme: The house of David. Our travels take us to the village of Taybeh (1st century style village home). Continue to "Shepherd Field" Bethlehem, and Elah Valley where David killed Goliath. Dinner and overnight– Jerusalem Olive Tree Hotel.
Day 9 Sun. Sep 26 Theme: From Jerusalem to Jericho. Our travels will take us to: Bethany (Lazarus); the wilderness of Judea (the temptation of Jesus), Bethany beyond the Jordan (baptism of Jesus), NT and OT Jericho. Transfer to Galilee. Dinner and overnight – Ein Gev Holiday Village.
Day 10 Mon. Sep 27 Theme: The northern regions. Biblical events in Upper Galilee regions including Dan, Caesarea Philippi, the road to Damascus, and Qatzrin. Dinner and overnight – Ein Gev Holiday Village.
Day 12 Tue. Sep 28 Theme: Jesus and the Galilee. Boat ride across the Sea of Galilee. Then explore sites related to the ministry of Jesus including the Magdala, Mount of Beatitudes, Tabgha (loaves and fish), Heptapagon (primacy of Peter), Capernaum, and Chorazin. Dinner and overnight – Ein Gev Holiday Village.
Day 12 Wed. Sep 29 Theme: Galilee of the nations (N.T.) Travel through the Galilee region including sites such as Arbel, Nazareth, Mt Tabor, Mt Gilboa and Bet Shean. Dinner and overnight – Ein Gev Holiday Village.
Day 13 Thu. Sep 30 Theme: The International Coastal Highway. Travel along the International Coastal Highway with visits to Megiddo, Mount Carmel, and Caesarea Maritima. Dinner not included – Ben Gurion Airport – night departure for return flight to the USA.
Day 14 Fri. Oct 1: Arrive USA.
