Church and State

Professor Augsburger, in this lecture, appeals to us for greater awareness of the Church and the people of God. The Church is the primary body, through which God is working, in the world today to affect the world for good.  Shows how the Church is ordered by God for good and the well being of all persons.  As government becomes deified, it is the responsibility of the Christian to stand against it.  Christians are to call the state to be the state and the Church to be the Church. The role of the Christian in government is primarily to keep it secular.

This is a Legacy Audio recording drawn from a collection of free audio resources over the last 30+ years featuring themes which are still relevant today. Due to the archival nature of the recordings, some of the audio content may not be up to today's digital standards, but nonetheless, the content is still applicable.

Myron Augsburger

Pastor

Myron Augsburger is an American Mennonite pastor, professor, theologian, and author. He received both his Masters in Theology (1961) and his Doctorate in Theology (1964) from Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, Virginia. Myron served as President of Eastern Mennonite College (now known as Eastern Mennonite University) for 15 years while continuing to teach at the college as a Professor of Theology. He is also the former President of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities, where his tenure was characterized by a focus on promoting racial and ethnic diversity. Myron has written over 20 books and continues to serve in various positions of education and ministry.
