Deepening Faith Through Challenge and Community
I had been looking for a course to do for some time as I had wanted to challenge myself further and go deeper with the core Christian subjects particularly the Holy Spirit, Prayer, and obtaining a greater wealth of knowledge on key questions regularly raised through Apologetics. I had been discussing this with my good friend, Peter Barbour (who has been a fellow and is now a mentor) and he suggested the CSL Discipleship Course.
I am not known for my reading so this was a real opportunity to be challenged in this way given the vast array of books on each subject. One book in particular I have loved and that is CS Lewis’ book…The Great Divorce. This is such a well-written and wondrous book and I would not have read it if it wasn’t for this course!
I must say that the course has helped develop me further as I run the race God has set out for me. I have loved the bible studies in particular as I like to learn and understand God’s Word in greater depth. It has helped me concentrate on the specific topic month by month. I have been challenged by each of the speakers in different ways & appreciated their passion and desire to tell us about their own life experiences in their talks, which showed that they too face many challenges and hurdles in their Christian walks.
I have gained so much from my mentor who has continued to challenge me, bless me, and pray with me along the way - thank you so much. This, and spending time with my micro-group have been fantastic, and I will genuinely greatly miss both. My micro-group, with two other Fellows also journeying through the course, has been so beneficial - thank you - you know who you are! Finally, I wanted to thank God for bringing Stuart to be the Belfast Director. He is not just enthusiastic but is ever supportive and encouraging, and exemplifies a disciple of Jesus, that CS Lewis envisioned.
