From Knowledge to Relationship.
I came to CSLI at the start of the 2019/20 session feeling somewhat apprehensive. Would I be able to cope with the intensity and personal exposure inherent in the Program? However, I knew that a period of disciplined focus on what it means to be a disciple of Jesus would be both helpful and challenging. There is often a distinction made between head knowledge and heart knowledge. As we studied the core doctrines of Christianity month by month in CSLI, my beliefs were not substantially altered in their formulation, but they took root in a new way. They moved from head to heart. The intensity of the study each month really does lead to depth as the extended learning leads to deeper reflection and spiritual growth. It's a process I can best describe as being marinated in the Word of God, infused not just with truth but life. It's a movement from knowing about God to developing a deeper relationship with him. I benefited greatly from having a program of study that I had committed to follow - that provided accountability which has always been essential for me to make progress. I liked the reflective writing, the personal pieces as well as the monthly Bible studies. I wish that I had spent more time in the application pieces, but I will re visit these. The shared journey was a treat, the weekend had some great conversations with new people. The friendships that grew out of my triad will last beyond CSLI; you know who you are - thanks, guys. My mentor gave up substantial time regularly from a very busy schedule for which I am very grateful - thanks again. Finally, I'm grateful to God for Royce and Susan who obeyed God's call to them to come to Northern Ireland and whose example of a Godly life spoke as loudly as their words.
