Rediscovering the Treasure of C.S. Lewis and Deepening Faith in Christ

Making time to re-engage with the writings of C S Lewis was just a delight. I always enjoyed his books – particularly Mere Christianity, The Screwtape Letters and The Narnia stories – but that was many years ago. So, re-reading Mere Christianity (well most of it!) made me appreciate  what a treasure he was. The way in which – in one sentence – he was able to convey a profound truth but in such a way that it could be “simply” grasped was amazing.

Meeting people that you wouldn’t otherwise get know was so good. I really valued the time with our triplet and also my mentor. I think one of the “standout” aspects of the course (and the year) was getting to meet and know other folk who wanted to know and deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Personally, the year also re-enforced the fact that Jesus Christ is not only someone whom “secular”  historical evidence confirms lived on earth but that the Bible is a valid and reliable record of his life and teaching. That being the case our faith is based on the truth of who he said he was – the Son of the Living God, the Creator of the universe and the God who loves us. Utterly amazing.
