Habits to Practice: Memorizing the Bible

Memorize the Lord’s Prayer. Write it out and pray it three times a day until it becomes fixed in your mind and heart. Bible memorization is a great way to store God’s Word in your heart and equip you to live for God. As a bonus, try memorizing the prayer in your mother tongue, Swahili, and/or English.

Sala ya Bwana

Baba Yetu uliye mbinguni,
jina lako litukuzwe;
ufalme wako ufike,
utakalo lifanyike
duniani kama mbinguni.
Utupe leo mkate wetu wa kila siku,
utusamehe makosa yetu,
kama tunavyowasamehe na sisi waliotukosea.
Usitutie katika kishawishi,
lakini utuokoe maovuni.
Kwa kuwa ufalme ni wako,
na nguvu na utukufu hata milele
Amina.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven,
May your name be kept holy.
May your Kingdom come soon.
May your will be done on earth
as it is in heaven.
Give us today the food we need,
and forgive us our sins,
as we have forgiven those who sin against us.
And don’t let us yield to temptation,
but rescue us from the evil one.
For yours in the kingdom
and the power and the glory for ever.
Amen.
