Richard Lovelace’s talk on What God is Doing Now, explains that spiritual renewal can come beginning with personal renewal via an ascetic model or corporate renewal via a sovereign move of God, and that prayer is pivotal in either case.

Richard Lovelace, (1931 – 2020) was professor emeritus of church history at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and the author of Dynamics of a Spiritual Life, Homosexuality and the Church and The American Pietism of Cotton Mather. Lovelace was primarily interested in interested in the subject of spiritual awakening, revival, and renewal in the Church. He has also authored numerous articles in addition to his books. He received his ThD from Princeton Theological Seminary.
