Randy Newman

Randy Newman (1956-2024) was the Senior Fellow for Apologetics and Evangelism at the C.S. Lewis Institute. He taught at several evangelical seminaries. After serving for over 30 years with Campus Crusade for Christ, he established Connection Points, a ministry to help Christians engage people’s hearts the way Jesus did. He has written seven books, Questioning Evangelism, Corner Conversations, Bringing the Gospel Home, Engaging with Jewish People, Unlikely Converts: Improbable Stories of Faith and What They Teach Us About Evangelism, Mere Evangelism. and his most recent, Questioning Faith: Indirect Journeys of Belief through Terrains of Doubt. Randy has also written numerous articles about evangelism and other ways our lives intertwine with God’s creation. He earned his MDiv and PhD in Intercultural Studies from Trinity International University. Randy went home to be with the Lord in May 2024.

Russ Ramsey is an author and pastor with a passion for uniting art and faith. He has been in vocational ministry for more than twenty years and currently serves as the lead pastor of Christ Presbyterian Church’s Cool Springs location. He holds an MDiv and ThM from Covenant Theological Seminary, and is the author of six books, including Rembrandt is in the Wind: Learning to Love Art through the Eyes of Faith (Zondervan 2022), and Behold the King of Glory, recipient of the 2016 Christian Book Award for New Author. Russ is also a member of The Rabbit Room.

Jana Harmon, Ph.D, is the Senior Fellow For Christian Apologetics for the C.S. Lewis Institute and a Teaching Fellow for C.S. Lewis Institute Atlanta. She serves on the Atlanta Advisory Board and as an Adjunct Professor of Cultural Apologetics at Biola University. Her doctoral research studied the religious conversion of atheists to Christianity looking at the perspectives and stories of 50 former Atheists. She views apologetics through a practical, evangelistic lens. She is the host of the podcast eX-skeptic for the C.S. Lewis Institute. Jana received her PhD from the University of Birmingham, England.

AuthorGary Millar, Author, is the Principal of Queensland Theological College and the co-founder and Chair of The Gospel Coalition Australia. After studying chemistry in his home city of Belfast, he moved to Scotland to study theology, before completing a D.Phil at Oxford on Deuteronomy. Gary worked as a pastor for 17 years in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, before moving to Brisbane to lead the team at QTC. His written essays on Deuteronomy for the New Studies in Biblical Theology Series include Calling on the name of the Lord and Now Choose Life. Some other works and contributions include, Saving Eutychus, written with Phil Campbell, and the ESV Men’s Devotional Bible.

George "Chip" Hammond, has shepherded Bethel Presbyterian Church in Leesburg, VA since 1993. He has published works in the academic community regarding the intellectually disabled in the church and contributes to publications like Westminster Theological Journal and New Horizons. He is a Teaching Fellow with the C.S. Lewis Institute’s Fellows Program. Chip and his wife Donna are on the cusp of being empty-nesters. When not preaching, teaching, writing, or studying, he enjoys listening to jazz and playing drums with other musicians, and working with his hands.

Aimee Riegert, CSLI Fellow, earned bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and foreign language studies from Southern Methodist University. In addition to supporting various national security efforts in Northern Virginia, she has worked as an itinerant high school math teacher and drama coach, and has served in women’s ministries, praise teams, on the adult support team for Young Life and as a “mentor mom” for MOPS International ministries, as well as English instructor in several ESL programs in Japan. She is a graduate of the C.S. Lewis Institute Year One Fellows Program.

Hugh Ross earned an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in astronomy from the University of Toronto; and he was a postdoctoral research fellow for five years at Caltech, studying quasars and galaxies. He is a Canadian Astrophysicist, Christian apologist, and old Earth creationist. Ross obtained his Ph.D. in Astronomy from the University of Toronto and his B.S. degree in physics from the University of British Columbia. He established his own ministry in 1986, called Reasons to Believe that promotes progressive and day-age forms of old Earth creationism. He has written and collaborated on several articles and books which include Designed to the Core, Weathering Climate Change, Improbable Planet, Hidden Treasures in the Book of Job and Rescuing Inerrancy: A Scientific Defense.

Sam is a public speaker for City Bible Forum and Third Space, where he speaks regularly to high school students, city workers, doctors, and lawyers. Sam is the author of several books which include, How to Talk About Jesus (Without Being THAT Guy), Evangelism in a Skeptical World, Preaching as the Word of God, Topical Preaching in a Complex World: How to Proclaim Truth, and Relevance at the Same Time.

Steve King served as the Senior Pastor at Cherrydale Baptist Church in Arlington, VA from 1983 to 2019, and Senior Pastor Emeritus from 2019-2022. Steve has a passion to make disciples who love God and people above all else. He hosted Renewing Hope on WAVA 105.1 FM for 26 years, led the Band of Shepherds pastors’ fellowship for 30 years, served on the board of Pioneers International for 26 years, was on the leadership team of One Heart DC and is lecturer and writer for the C.S. Lewis Institute. He is the author of Beware the Slow Leaks – eight ways ministry leaders can thrive and finish strong (Salem Books). Steve holds degrees from the University of Georgia (BBA) and Western Seminary (MDiv).

Thomas Aquinas, Theologian, was born in 1225 in Roccasecca, Italy. He felt a call to the priesthood and the scholarly life of the Dominican Order. Eventually he received his doctorate while studying under St. Albert the Great. His best-known work, the Summa Theologica, addressed the philosophical and theological issues of his day, integrating a high view of Scripture as the inspired Word of God with a belief that God had also given human beings the gift of reason and logic. He was one of the most influential thinkers of the Medieval Scholastic period of history. His Christian apologetics laid a foundation upon which apologists have built through our present day.
