Randy Newman

Senior Fellow for Apologetics and Evangelism, CSLI

Randy Newman is the Senior Fellow for Apologetics and Evangelism at the C.S. Lewis Institute. He has taught at several evangelical seminaries. After serving for over 30 years with Campus Crusade for Christ, he established Connection Points, a ministry to help Christians engage people’s hearts the way Jesus did. He has written six books, Questioning Evangelism, Corner Conversations, Bringing the Gospel Home, Engaging with Jewish People, Unlikely Converts: Improbable Stories of Faith and What They Teach Us About Evangelism and his most recent, Mere Evangelism. Randy has also written numerous articles about evangelism and other ways our lives intertwine with God’s creation. He earned his MDiv and PhD in Intercultural Studies from Trinity International University.

Assistant Pastor
Ben Hein, Assistant Pastor, grew up in Alexandria, VA, and now lives in Derwood, MD with his wife Neva and son Felix. After graduating from James Madison University, he worked for five years in the Northern Virginia area as a software developer and analyst. Ben graduated with his M.Div. from Reformed Theological Seminary in Washington, DC, and has served in churches throughout the Northern Virginia area. Ben now has the privilege of serving the congregation of Shady Grove Presbyterian Church as an Assistant Pastor. He is passionate about seeing Christians grow in the wisdom and revelation of the knowledge of God, as well as reaching his generation with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Rebecca McLaughlin, Author, grew up in the UK and holds a Ph.D. in English literature from Cambridge University and a theology degree from Oak Hill College in London. In 2008, she moved to America and spent 9 years with The Veritas Forum. In September 2017, she co-founded Vocable Communications. Rebecca is the author of Confronting Christianity; 12 Hard Questions for the World’s Largest Religion and 10 Questions Every Teen Should Ask (and Answer) about Christianity. She continues her writing and speaking as one of the world’s leading Christian apologists while enjoying her family life with her husband and three children.

Rico Tice, Speaker, is a senior minister of evangelism at All Souls Church, located in central London. His main role is to help the hundreds of enquirers about the Christian faith who come through the doors of the church each year. Rico helped develop the Christianity Explored and Life Explored courses, which introduces people to Jesus in the Bible. He is a popular conference speaker and the author/co-author of several books including Honest Evangelism, Christianity Explored, One Life: What’s It All About? and The Real Jesus. He continues to equip believers to share their faith in Jesus, as well as develop new material through this active ministry.

Tim Thornborough, Founder, The Good Book Company, studied Philosophy and Theology at Bristol University in the 1970s, and then trained as a journalist, working on a wide variety of magazines, newspapers and journals which took him regularly to the Middle East. Tim founded The Good Book Company in 1991. Today his role includes working on editorial projects, with a team of eight writers, editors and designers to create books and resources that clearly and carefully express the core truths of the Christian faith from the Bible. His chief passion is to explore in writing about the big life issues of God, meaning, and eternity. Tim’s written works include, A Very Noisy Christmas, Deborah and the Very Big Battle and How to Have a Happy Christmas.

Katy Morgan, is an editor for The Good Book Company in the very south-western edge of London. She also has enjoyed writing blogs for Christian Websites such as The Gospel Coalition, The Good Book Company, Unlocking the Bible and Risen Motherhood. She is the author of The Promise and the Light.  Katy studied ancient Greek Literature at Cambridge University earning an MPhil.  Prior to her studies at Cambridge University, she worked as a chaplain’s assistant.

Max McLean, Author and Actor, is President and Artistic Director of Fellowship for the Performing Arts, lead actor/director and author of the theatrical adaptation of C.S. Lewis’ The Screwtape Letters, narrator for the Listener’s Bible audio line. McLean is co-author with Warren Bird of the book Unleashing the Word: Rediscovering the Public Reading of Scripture, The Journey of Jesus. He is the narrator of the audio version of The Valley of Vision. Max adapted for the stage The Screwtape Letters, C.S. Lewis Onstage: The Most Reluctant Convert, The Great Divorce, Genesis, Mark’s Gospel and Martin Luther on Trial. His latest work was bringing to the movie screen “The Most Reluctant Convert”, an adaptation of the successful one-man stage play.

Aimee Riegert, CSLI Fellow, earned bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and foreign language studies from Southern Methodist University. In addition to supporting various national security efforts in Northern Virginia, she has worked as an itinerant high school math teacher and drama coach, and has served in women’s ministries, praise teams, on the adult support team for Young Life and as a “mentor mom” for MOPS International ministries, as well as English instructor in several ESL programs in Japan. She is a graduate of the C.S. Lewis Institute Year One Fellows Program.

Callom Harkrader, Author, earned a degree in Psychology from Lynchburg College, double minoring in History and Theater, before graduating from the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics. Callom worked as the Development Worker for The Mark Drama, a drama of Mark’s gospel produced around the world, and also has spent significant time doing mission work in Romania and Uganda as well as serving as president of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship at Lynchburg College.

Simon Edwards, Speaker, is a Senior Tutor at The Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics (OCCA) and speaks regularly in the UK and abroad at conferences, churches and universities. Simon has undergraduate degrees in law and economics, and post-graduate qualifications in law, education, and theology.  He worked as a lawyer in Australia before moving to the UK to study at OCCA and later Oxford University. Simon has spoken on university campuses, including Oxford, Cambridge, Hong Kong, Oslo, and Queensland; in banks, businesses, and government institutions, as well as in debates and at churches and conferences. He is the author of The Sanity of Belief: Why Faith Makes Sense.
