Communicating the Gospel C.S. Lewis Style

Dr. Jerry Root is a Professor of Evangelism and the Director of the Wheaton Evangelism Initiative at the Billy Graham Center for Evangelism at Wheaton College. He also serves as the C.S. Lewis Institute’s Christopher W. Mitchell Senior Fellow for C.S. Lewis Studies. His passionate, engaging, and thoughtful presentation of important truths has made him a favorite professor of Wheaton College students for years. Both his M.Div. thesis and Ph.D. dissertation were about C.S. Lewis. Root has taught college and university courses on C.S. Lewis continuously since 1980.

In this six-part video series, Root addresses how C.S. Lewis shared his faith, and offers various applications that build on his ideas. He also shares how he has been able to share Christ with people by using some of Lewis’ concepts. Root explains that he is moved when he realizes that if listeners apply some of these concepts there will be people in heaven forever because of what they do.

This video series would be an excellent resource for either small group or individual study, although we believe your experience would be enhanced by the fellowship and discussion within a small group. Each of the videos lasts about one hour. We suggest that you watch them in the order presented. If you watch the videos as a small group, we suggest the following simple format for your group session:

1. Open in prayer

2. Watch video

3. Group Discussion

4. Close in prayer

You may also wish to include time for fellowship, refreshments, and possibly a meal.

This Video Series was recorded on Sunday, June 17th to Wednesday, June 20th at the 2018 C.S. Lewis Institute Summer Conference held at the Marion E. Wade Center, Wheaton College.
