Thomas Howard

Thomas Howard, a convert to Roman Catholicism, is Professor Emeritus of English at St. John's Seminary and previously an English professor who taught at Gordon College in Massachusetts. He is a highly acclaimed writer and scholar, noted for his studies of Inklings, C.S. Lewis and Charles Williams as well as books including Christ the Tiger (1967), Chance or the Dance? (1969), Hallowed be This House (1976), Evangelical is Not Enough (1984), If Your Mind Wanders at Mass (1995), On Being Catholic (1997), and Dove Descending (2006.) Howard earned his PhD from NYU where his dissertation was on C.S. Lewis’s friend, Charles Williams. A lifelong Lewis scholar, Howard visited Lewis at the Kilns in 1961.

Charles Malik
Theologian 
Charles Malik, (1906 – 1987) was a Lebanese academic, diplomat, philosopher, and theologian. He attended The American University of Beirut, graduating with a degree in mathematics and physics. He went on to study philosophy at Harvard (where he received his PhD) and in Freiburg, Germany. Malik is known for his role in the UN – as he signed the founding charter of the United Nations and one of the UN’s greatest documents, The Universal Declaration of Human Rights. He completed his academic career as the Jacques Maritain Distinguished Professor of Moral and Political Philosophy at the Catholic University of America, in Washington, DC. He is the author of The Two Tasks, focusing on the Church’s passion of both evangelism and intellectualism.

Professor, CSLI Co-Founder, Senior Fellow for Faith and Vocation, CSLIJames M. Houston is a co-founder of the C.S. Lewis Institute.  From its beginning, Jim has served as a Senior Fellow of the Institute, lecturing at CSLI events over the past four decades. He received his Bachelor of Science and M.A. degrees from the University of Edinburgh and a D. Phil. from Oxford University.  He was a University Lecturer at Oxford from 1947 – 1971 where he taught cultural and historical geography.  While teaching at Oxford, he met C.S. Lewis and participated in a regular Bible study with him for six years. He is known as one of the “founding fathers” of Regent College in Vancouver, British Columbia where he has served as the first Principal, Chancellor and Professor of Spiritual Theology.

Richard Mouw

Professor

Richard Mouw serves as Professor Emeritus at Fuller Theological Seminary and Senior Research Fellow at Calvin University's Paul B. Henry Institute on Christianity and Politics. Mouw served as president and professor of Christian philosophy at Fuller Theological Seminary and directed their Institute of Faith and Public Life. He received his MA from the University of Alberta and his PhD from the University of Chicago. Mouw was awarded the Abraham Kuyper Prize for Excellence in Reformed Theology and Public Life at Princeton Theological Seminary. Dr. Mouw is the author of more than 20 books which include How to Be a Patriotic Christian, Uncommon Decency, The Challenges of Cultural Discipleship, and his most recent, Divine Generosity: The Scope of Salvation in Reformed Theology.

  J.I. Packer

J.I. Packer
J.I. Packer (1926 – 2020) is known for his best-selling book, Knowing God, as well as his work as an editor for the English Standard Version of the Bible. He was a signer on the 1978 Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy, a member on the advisory board of the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, and also was involved in the ecumenical book Evangelicals and Catholics Together in 1994. His last teaching position was as the board of governors' Professor of Theology at Regent College in Vancouver, British Columbia. He was awarded the St. Cuthbert's Cross at the Provincial Assembly of ACNA on 27 June 2014 for his "unparalleled contribution to Anglican and global Christianity."
