There is no telling what circumstances will compel you to set aside a day of prayer. Whatever the circumstance, God alone transfuses the human soul with desire to go apart for a short while to pray.

Maybe it's a critical decision to be made, a problem to wrestle, or a call to abandon and surrender so destructive habits. You might have a growing sense that you need renewal or a day to celebrate God in your life. Abraham Heschel said, "Prayer is our humble answer to the inconceivable surprise of living."...

Author

Lonni Collins Pratt, is an award-winning author and journalist with several books to her credit and more than one thousand magazine and newspaper articles. She is part of the community of friends in Oxford, Michigan, who support the work of the monks at St. Benedict Monastery. Lonni received her BA in General Christian Studies from Evangel University and Associates of Art in Child Development from Macomb Community College. She co-authored with Daniel Homan, Radical Hospitality: Benedict's Way of Love, Benedict's Way: An Ancient Monk's Insights for a Balanced Life, and authored Here I Am, Lord: Stories, Prayers, and Inspiration for Teens and the Adults in Their Lives.
