“In whom are hid all the Treasures of Wisdom and Knowledge.”

– Colossians 2:3

Who is He in whom all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden? He is the long-awaited Messiah, Christ, “the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature.” He is the One whom “it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.”

So great was God’s love for sinners that He sent His only-begotten Son to seek and save us—Jesus the Messiah, through whom “were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.” He who created the worlds became incarnate in human form to reveal the Father’s love and give His life on the cross to pay the debt of our sins and reconcile us to God.

After His glorious resurrection from the dead and ascension to heaven, Jesus returned to His throne at the Father’s right hand to serve as God’s Great High Priest, who intercedes for us daily. And He continues as “the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence (Col. 1:15–20, KJV 1900).

Jesus, who loved us and gave Himself up for us, who has all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge we need, deserves the preeminence in all things! Is He preeminent in your life? Have you surrendered all to Him? Are you abiding in Him and walking as He walked (see 1 John)?

Prayer

Thank You, God for sending us Your Son, Jesus the Messiah. This
Advent as I look to Jesus may I see Your treasures of wisdom and
knowledge.
Amen.
