Living a Life of Love, Part 1
This lecture took place at the start of our Washington, D.C. area “Urban Plunge.” Jesus Christ lived a life of perfect love toward God and others. As Christ’s disciples, we are called to follow His example and make love of God and our neighbor the great goal of our lives. As we do so, the Holy Spirit will empower us to become increasingly like Jesus. In his talk, Tom Tarrants distinguishes the agape love which God calls us to from the sensuous and the sentimental ideas of love that permeate American Culture. We explore how agape is manifested in grateful obedience toward God and the humble service of our neighbor, and how we grow in this love.
