C.S. Lewis Institute, in the legacy of C.S. Lewis, works to develop wholehearted disciples of Jesus Christ who will articulate, defend, share, and live their faith in personal and public life. Founded in 1976 by Dr. James Houston and James R. Hiskey, the Institute provides leading teachers who address important issues of the day from the perspective of Biblical orthodoxy, while also providing discipleship for individuals in small groups.

Thomas W. Simmons, CSLI Executive Vice President, is a graduate of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill with degrees in chemistry and English literature. He has also undertaken graduate studies in business and finance. A 30-year Wall Street career led to positions as Senior Vice President in investment banking and finally as Managing Director of a venture capital firm. He has served on various boards of directors and boards of advisors.

Arthur Dicken Thomas is Adjunct Professor of Spirituality and Church History at Wesley Theological Seminary, researcher and writer at Union Presbyterian Seminary Library, Richmond, VA and retired Professor of Christian Spirituality at the Ecumenical Institute of Theology, St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore in 2017. Art received his B.A. from the College of William and Mary, M.Div. from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, M.A. from Wesley Theological Seminary, Th.M. and Ph.D. in church history from Union Theological Seminary in Virginia. His publications include The Second Great Awakening in Virginia and Slavery Reform, Early Churches of Culpeper County, Virginia and about forty-five articles.

Arthur W. Lindsley
Senior Fellow for Apologetics, CSLIArthur W. Lindsley is the Vice President of Theological Initiatives at the Institute for Faith, Works, & Economics. He has served at the C.S. Lewis Institute since 1987 both as President until 1998 and currently as Senior Fellows for Apologetics. Formerly, he was director of Educational Ministries at the Ligonier Valley Study Center, and Staff Specialist with the Coalition for Christian Outreach. He is the author of C.S. Lewis's Case for Christ, True Truth, Love: The Ultimate Apologetic, and co-author with R.C. Sproul and John Gerstner of Classical Apologetics, and has written numerous articles on theology, apologetics, C.S. Lewis, and the lives and works of many other authors and teachers. Art earned his M.Div. from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. in Religious Studies from the University of Pittsburgh.

Eugene Peterson, Professor, received his S.T.B. from New York Theological Seminary, and M.A. in Semitic Languages from Johns Hopkins University. At Regent College, Vancouver, B.C. he served as the James M. Houston Professor of Spiritual Theology at Regent and retains the position of Professor Emeritus of Spiritual Theology.  He has authored numerous books, including Run With the Horses, A Long Obedience in the Same Direction: Discipleship in an Instant Society, Subversive Spirituality, Five Smooth Stones for Pastoral Work, and, perhaps most well-known, The Message, a contemporary rendering of the Bible in everyday language. In 2020, The Message was released in a single volume containing both Old and New Testaments.

Steven Garber is the Senior Fellow for Vocation and the Common Good for the M. J. Murdock Charitable Trust. As a teacher, he has recently served as Professor of Marketplace Theology and Director of the Masters in Leadership, Theology and Society at Regent College, Vancouver, BC. he is the author of several books, including Visions of Vocation: Common Grace for the Common Good, his most recent is The Seamless Life: A Tapestry of Love and Learning, Worship and Work. One of the founders of the Wedgwood Circle, and has been a Principal of the Washington Institute for Faith, Vocation and Culture. He completed his PhD in the Philosophy of Learning at Pennsylvania State University.

Richard Foster is a Christian theologian and author. He is founder of Renovaré (a Christian nonprofit established in1988 to help people in becoming more like Jesus) and served as its president until 2008; he continues to serve in an advisory role. Foster has been a professor at Friends University and pastor of Evangelical Friends churches. He earned his Doctor of Pastoral Theology at Fuller Theological Seminary and received an honorary doctorate from Houghton College. He is possibly best known for his 1978 book Celebration of Discipline, which sold over one million copies. It was named by Christianity Today as one of the top ten books of the 20^th century.

Michelle Morgan Knott, is a C.S. Lewis Fellow and a former Congressional staffer, she is first and foremost a follower of Jesus Christ and loves to spread the Good News. She's contributed regularly to Georgetown Women’s Bible Study podcasts. Michelle serves as an English as a second language teacher of adults.

Author
Charles W. Colson, Author, (1931-2012) served as Special Counsel to President Richard M. Nixon before pleading guilty on Watergate-related charges and serving a seven months prison sentence. Mr. Colson came to faith in Christ in the midst of these events, and, soon after his release in 1975, launched Prison Fellowship along with three friends. He was a syndicated columnist and contributed to the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, the Washington Post and the Chicago Tribune. Born Again, Colson’s first book, became an international bestseller. Since then, he has written 20 other books the royalties of which he donates to Prison Fellowship. His other books include How Now Shall We Live, Justice That Restores, and Being the Body.
