Richard Lovelace details how corporate spiritual renewal occurs through both Biblical and historical examples. Additionally, Lovelace describes how a Christian united front at the beginning of the 19th century, commencing with concerted prayer, resulted in five broad and important societal outcomes.

Richard Lovelace, (1931 – 2020) was professor emeritus of church history at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and the author of Dynamics of a Spiritual Life, Homosexuality and the Church and The American Pietism of Cotton Mather. Lovelace was primarily interested in interested in the subject of spiritual awakening, revival, and renewal in the Church. He has also authored numerous articles in addition to his books. He received his ThD from Princeton Theological Seminary.
