Praying The Ordinary

Many of us today live in a kind of inner Apartheid. we segregate a small corner of pious activities and can then make no spiritual sense out of the rest of our live. We have become so accustomed to this way of living that we fail to see the contradiction in it. The scandal of Christianity in our day is the heresy of a 5 percent spirituality.

We overcome this modern heresy by praying the ordinary. we pray the ordinary in three ways: first, by turning ordinary experiences of life into prayer; secondly, by seeing God in the ordinary experiences of life; and third, by praying throughout the ordinary experiences of life...

Richard Foster

Theologian

Richard Foster is a Christian theologian and author. He is founder of Renovaré (a Christian nonprofit established in1988 to help people in becoming more like Jesus) and served as its president until 2008; he continues to serve in an advisory role. Foster has been a professor at Friends University and pastor of Evangelical Friends churches. He earned his Doctor of Pastoral Theology at Fuller Theological Seminary and received an honorary doctorate from Houghton College. He is possibly best known for his 1978 book Celebration of Discipline, which sold over one million copies. It was named by Christianity Today as one of the top ten books of the 20th century.
